The answer depends on what part of the Janitor AI experience you are using and which current AI options are available.

The actual “brain” behind the chatbot is where cost can come in, because Janitor AI is a front-end interface that needs to connect to a model to generate text. There are now three distinct paths:

1. JanitorLLM (JLLM): Janitor’s own built-in AI model. This is free for everyone and doesn’t require any external setup, though it can be slower during peak hours and has a shorter memory window than paid options.

2. Janitor+ (Janitor’s official paid tier): launched June 24, 2026, at **$12.99/month**. This is Janitor’s first-ever subscription product, and it upgrades the free experience rather than replacing it (more below).

3. Bring-your-own-key / proxy: connecting your own OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek, or OpenRouter key. You pay that provider directly, and Janitor doesn’t take a cut.

So while the Janitor AI app and site never charge you just to enter, you may end up paying for a subscription, for tokens through another provider, or both, depending on how you want your talking agents to perform.
